My story

I didn’t expect to be a widower this early in life, and I definitely didn’t expect to end up writing about it on the internet. But here we are.

This blog is where I’m putting down the stuff that doesn’t fit anywhere else — the strange objects that end up meaning too much, the dark jokes that got me through hospital waiting rooms, the small rituals that kept me sane while my wife fought cancer, and the ones that still do now that she’s gone. Some of it will be sad. Some of it will probably be funnier than you’re expecting a grief blog to be. That’s on purpose — humor was one of the few tools that actually worked.

I’m not a grief expert, a therapist, or anyone qualified to tell you how to do this. I’m just a guy that lost his wife, his best friend, half of his soul. And now I’m trying to make sense of this strange new world I woke up in. If any of this resonates, sits wrong, or just makes you feel a little less alone — good. That’s really all I’m hoping for here.
